Class requirements:
- These classes are designed for students in grades 1-8. Adult family members are welcome to register and participate in these classes with their student as well
The family that trains together, stays together!
- For any white belt student in the Family Basic class, an adult must stay during class time and must be available to participate as needed for specific parent coaching drills
- Participation in these drills earns a “Very Involved Parent” patch for their student’s uniform
Family Classes Student Creed:
- I will develop myself in a positive manner and avoid anything that would reduce my mental growth or my physical health.
- I will develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and others.
- I will use the art of Kenpo constructively and defensively, to help myself and my fellow man, and never to be abusive or offensive. (3b. I will obey my parents and teachers because know this is right.)
- I will live by the principles of black belt: modesty, integrity, perseverance, self control, and indomitable spirit.
Class Description (45 minutes x 2 days a week – 1 “A” Class and 1 “B” Class)
“A” Class
- Teach self-defense techniques, focusing on real-life scenarios
- Focus on fundamental stances, strikes, kicks, and blocks
- Work on strength, endurance and flexibility

Family Basic: (White, yellow, advanced yellow) Self-defense combinations and grip releases
Family Beginner: (Orange, advanced orange, purple, advanced purple) Beginner techniques and combinations
Family Intermediate: (Blue, advanced blue, green, advanced green, red) Intermediate techniques and combinations
Black Belt Prep: (Apprentice black belt, high red, brown, 2nd brown, 3rd brown, candidate*) Black belt prep. techniques and combinations
Note: students who earn their apprentice belt will participate in this class. The BBP class is an adult class that will prepare both minor students and adult students to test for the rank of black belt.
* Candidate belt means that a student is actively testing for the rank of black belt
“B” Class
- Teach specific forms, emphasizing precision and technique
- Focus on fundamental stances, strikes, kicks, and blocks
- Work on strength, endurance and flexibility
